Description

The ukulele was built mainly from local or European woods. For the top I used FSC certified alpine spruce wood from Switzerland. This very slow-growing top wood allows for a thin top and the best possible static and acoustic characteristics. Particularly noteworthy is the rare and finely grown yew wood used for the sides and back. The visual highlight here is that the yew trunk (tree) has partially absorbed a hammered nail over the many years in the immediate vicinity of the nail impact and the iron has dyed an area of the wood red. This can be seen from the reddish color in the lower area of the base, which has been arranged symmetrically. The elaborate rope bindings made of yew and wengue skilfully frame both the top and back and perfectly match the other woods in terms of color. The bridge, fingerboard and headstock veneer are made of ebony. The nut and bridge inlay are made of Brazilian cattle bone and have of course been individually finished for this instrument. The rosette picks up on the theme of yew wood and was bent from a ring of yew and glued in. The neck is made of cedro mahogany, which is used as the neck wood for the best guitars. And gives the instrument a slightly warmer tone. It is also pleasantly warm and soft to the touch"
